Ko Tash Burton tōku ingoa

Tasha grew up in Kerikeri and then moved to Dunedin to study Sport & Exercise Science and Māori Health. Tasha moved to Tauranga in 2022 for the opportunity to work at Manawaora Research, assisting with a range of on going research projects. Tasha also enjoys living in the Bay for the outdoor life and beach time.

Tasha’s research interest lies at the interface between western science knowledge systems and te ao Māori; specifically using Māori ways of knowing and thinking with, not in opposition to, science.

Within the research interface space, developing and deepening her understandings of Māori-Pākehā relationships and how non-Māori can positively and respectfully work in a Māori context is also a passion of hers.
