Originally from the Waikato, Leigh is a rural Bay of Plenty girl at heart. She first graduated as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with a background in microbiology and transfusion.

After many years in the lab, she has embraced the opportunity to support and improve community health - through engaging with patients and enthusiastically participating in The Centre for Health’s research team.

Leigh is paired with Hera, our research nurse on the BioMacs Cardiac trial liaising with Auckland University and Te Whatu Ora to champion improvements in post-cardiac event outcomes.

Leigh is currently pursuing postgraduate public health studies, expanding her interest in community health research.

Outside the Centre, Leigh makes the most of the local environment as a training ground for her sports. She avidly enjoys exploring the countryside participating in adventure sports -  mountain biking and recently ocean swimming.
