Exploring the Social Frailty in Aotearoa
New Zealand
In Collaboration with: Dr Ruth Teh
With support from the University of Auckland, the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment and the National Science Challenge
Duration: 2023 - 2024
Purpose:
To develop a culturally-specific social frailty scale for Aotearoa New Zealand and to explore its relationship with intrinsic capacity. This involves identifying the constructs of social frailty for Māori, Pacific, and non-Māori non-Pacific peoples. The scale could assist health and medical professionals to identify the needs of vulnerable older people before they become irreversible.
